Calling all photo sleuths! The Orange Mound Library and Genealogy Center needs your help to identify people and places in the Ernest Withers Collection!
Join us for this family-friendly event and hear from local nonprofits, sit in on story time, create crafts, and learn about local history through MPL's Vincent Astor Collection.
On Thursday, October 9, from 7:30 - 10 PM, the Memphis Library Foundation will host a provocative evening where banned books meet bold bites and beverages. “Cocktails & Conversation: Banned Books Edition" pairs iconic censored works with inspired culinary creations—from Fahrenheit 451's fiery mezcal margarita to The Bluest Eye's soulful lavender lemonade.
Wander through immersive zones like The Censored Lounge, The Banned Book Gallery, and The Liberation Stage, where literature, activism, and artistry collide. Explore why these powerful stories were once silenced—and why they still matter.
All ticket proceeds directly support the Memphis Public Libraries.
