FALL FUN AT MEMPHIS PUBLIC LIBRARIES
Fall Fun at Memphis Public Libraries

Fall is in the air, and Memphis Public Libraries has a full lineup of spooky season activities as well as programs for school-aged children during Fall Break. We kick off October with the Fall Musical Jam at the North Library on Oct. 1st. The fun continues with Trunk or Treat at the East Shelby Library on Oct. 8th and a Fall Festival at the Poplar-White Station branch on Oct. 14th. You won't want to miss the Spooky South Branch Theater on Oct. 22nd or the Nightmare on Third Street Bash on Oct. 31st. October is filled with spooky crafts and movies at various branches throughout the month! Don't miss the Literary Pumpkin Contest. Have a favorite book character and love decorating pumpkins? Pumpkin Pickup begins on October 5 at the Bartlett Library and must be returned to the library by October 19 for judging.

Fall Break Reading Challenge

We challenge you to read twenty minutes a day or 100 total this fall break. Customers can participate by signing up online at Beanstack or picking up a Grizzlies bookmark at your local library branch. Once completed, customers can pick up their prize/prize pack at their library while supplies last.

We have Memphis Grizzlies Library Cards now available at local branches. Sign up for a card or trade your old card for one of two limited edition Grizzlies cards.

American Heart Association

Join the Memphis Public Library and American Heart Association for Check It Memphis on October 8th at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library from 11 AM to 1 PM. There will be free blood pressure screenings and heart-healthy information.
Natinal hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month continues through October 15, and this month we celebrate Hispanic Americans' contributions and influence. From showing films created by or starring Latin creators, bilingual story time, or beginning Spanish, we have many options for you to participate in celebrating this month.

Family Tunes and Tales

What is better than stories or music? Stories and music. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Memphis Public Libraries come together for Tunes and Tales. Librarians read classic stories while MSO members use musical animation to introduce orchestra instruments. The Memphis Library Foundation sponsors this event through a grant from International Paper.

Evicted

You've heard about the housing crisis. Maybe you have even experienced it yourself. This November, EVICTED will come to the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library. The traveling museum exhibit from the National Building Museum is an immersive experience bringing visitors into the world of low-income renter evictions and the impact eviction has on families and the community.
