NEW FLOOR AT BENJAMIN L. HOOKS CENTRAL LIBRARY
Come and check out our new Rainbow Lobby Floor. The new epoxy floor replicates the original carpet design but in a more durable and easier-to-maintain format. Local Artist Burton Callicot designed the original work,  Diversity, which was commissioned by the Foundation in collaboration with the Urban Arts Commission, and funded by the Friends of the Library. We replaced the floor due to the difficulties of keeping it clean. Hopefully, this new floor won't need replacing anytime soon.

TURN THE PAGE TO DECEMBER
Evicted
You've heard about the housing crisis. Maybe you have even experienced it yourself. In early December, EVICTED opens to the public at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library. The traveling museum exhibit from the National Building Museum is an immersive experience bringing visitors into the world of low-income renter evictions, and the impact eviction has on families and the community. The exhibit is inspired by Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, a 2016 book by Matthew Desmond. In addition to looking at the nationwide eviction problem, there will be a deep dive into the housing crisis in Memphis, which includes local programming and resources for those in need of assistance. The Evicted exhibit will open in early December and remain up through most of January
From Holiday Movie Days at area branches where we will play classics like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to  a Mingle and Jingle Paint Party or DIY ornaments.  Keep an eye on upcoming  December events for lots of holiday fun!
