SEPTEMBER IS LIBRARY CARD SIGNUP MONTH!
  • This year, to celebrate Library Card Signup Month, MPL unveiled a new, limited edition Memphis Grizzlies themed library card!
  • 2916 New Cards issued in September 2022
  • 8% Increase over 2021
YOUTH LITERACY
  • 7469 Total Attendees for Youth Literacy Programs
  • 61% Increase over 2021
  • 35% of attendance was Outreach
  • “I attribute my kids’ reading level increasing due to your reading challenges! One is in the CLUE program now because of it!”
  • “It’s been wonderful watching our daughter grow and become more confident with each passing week – bilingual story time has definitely contributed to that.”
  • Nearly 700 people attended Back to School festivals at Levi, Whitehaven, Cherokee, and Hollywood Libraries.
HALLOWEEN & FALL FESTIVALS
  • 2677 Total attendees, system-wide
MPL WELCOMES ARUN GANDHI
  • Over 200 people attended Gandhi’s program, Why is Nonviolence so Difficult to Accept?, a presentation discussing the philosophy and how it can be practiced.
COMPUTER CLASSES
  • 438 customers attended computer classes during Aug-Oct. With classes like Coding for Teens and Computer Basics for Adults, there was something for everyone at the library this Fall!
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING SERIES
  • 17 Series; 505 Participants
  • Top Attended Series: American Sign Language Series; Digital Photography & Videography Series; All Things Natural Hair 411 Virtual Series
PRIDE KICKOFF
  • 280 customers joined us in celebrating Memphis Pride Month at the library’s Pride Kickoff and After-Hours events, developed in collaboration with OUTMemphis and funded by the Friends of the Library.
  • "Thank you so much for organizing a loving, celebratory event!"
