EVICTED
EVICTED continues throughout most of January at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library. The free traveling museum exhibit from the National Building Museum is an immersive experience bringing visitors into the world of low-income renter evictions and the impact eviction has on families and the community. The exhibit is inspired by Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, a 2016 book by Matthew Desmond. In addition to the nationwide eviction problem, it will look into the housing crisis in Memphis, which includes local programming and resources for those in need of assistance. The Evicted exhibit runs during regular library hours until January 22, 2023. There are several events this month connected to the exhibit. On January 17, at 6 pm, there will be a program on "Navigating Memphis' Broken Rental System." There will also be a closing reception on Saturday, January 21. For more information about additional events, programs, and panels that will accompany the exhibition, go to http://www.housingmatters901.com/calendar.html
