The UT Health Hub is bringing a Summer Cooking Class to the Whitehaven Branch! We will cover a healthy summer menu. Participants will leave each class with the groceries they need to complete the meal at home. We will also learn about nutrition and practical cooking skills. This class meets on Mondays from 5/15 to 6/17.
After sitting empty for decades, the old Melrose High School has a new lease on life! The Orange Mound Library opened to the public on April 26. This new Memphis Public Library Branch has a Geneology Center, meeting rooms, digital media space, study rooms, and a computer area. The new branch is located at 843 Dallas Street. It is open Monday- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by and check it out.
Join us at the Levi Library for the Biggest Loser Challenge. This 8-week program is geared toward adults seeking maintainable weight loss and healthy goals. Participants will gain a new outlook on exercise, weight loss, and healthy cooking and eating.
For Mental Health Awareness Month, I Read That Movie at the Library is reading A Beautiful Mind, by John Nash. Our May 25 meeting will feature a screening of the 2001 film adaptation of the book, which was directed by Ron Howard and won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Are you ready to get crafty? Join us on Saturday afternoons for children's craft time at Cossitt Library. We will have a guided craft and provide supplies for free artistic play. While the kids are making crafts, adults can grab a bite to eat at Dos Hermanos Kitchen.
Learn about getting stuff for free through your local Buy Nothing group! We'll discuss what Buy Nothing is, how it works, how it can save you money, and how to stay safe while using it. This program is for adults wanting to learn how to save money and declutter for free.
